Posturing Accomplishes Nothing – Stop Destroying Your Credibility

Nothing destroys an entrepreneur’s credibility faster than posturing. Posturing is when we respond or behave in a way that is intended to impress others, or to justify behaviours we’ve been called on that don’t serve us well. Posturing accomplishes nothing, even when it feels like we’re saving face.

From the entrepreneur who pretends that it’s more compassionate to embrace mediocre behaviour and accept those who fail to take action, because they themselves have consistently failed to take action; to the aspiring wealthbuilder who doesn’t want anyone to know their business is bleeding-out, and so they talk about how fast they’re growing, with little real world evidence to support that claim… posturing does nothing more than destroy what’s left of a person’s credibility in the marketplace.

We’ve all had experiences in our past that didn’t quite work the way we hoped. And we’ve all been caught behaving in ways that probably didn’t serve us or anyone else very well. There’s no value or use in shame, so there’s no need or justification for posturing.

There’s a wise saying that admonishes that we not allow ourselves to be defined by our past, reminding us that it was a life lesson, not a life sentence.

Realise that the point of power is always in the present moment.  You can allow your past to inform you, without having to live there now.

Experience the personal empowerment that comes from realising that when we own our past choices, we free ourselves from their chains, and have the potential to make new, better informed choices right here, right now, to create a better future for ourselves and the world around us.
